Francina Armengol insists on 'retaining' minors: "They will return when they do not put the collective health at risk" | Outbreak Mallorca

The president of the Balearic Government, Francina Armengol, insists on ‘retaining’ the minors, since “nobody but me wants them to return home, but they will do so when they have passed the quarantine, are healthy and do not put their health at risk collective ”, has indicated in relation to the students confined after the macro outbreak of Mallorca.

This statement by the Balearic president comes a week after the emergence of some outbreaks that the authorities of the islands have not been able to foresee. The reaction can be considered slow and delayed , not having been adapted to the seriousness of a situation that involved the care of minors in a high number of cases.

But on top of this little or no health provision from the Government of Francina Armengol, the president has allowed herself the luxury of conveying a ‘strong’ message to anyone who, as she has pointed out, intends to travel to the Balearic Islands to behave uncivilly and put the economy at risk, so he has warned that “stay at home.”

On the other hand, he also recalled that whoever travels to the Balearic Islands is obliged to acquire “the same commitment as the citizens of the Islands.”

Regarding study trips, Armengol has assured that his government “will act forcefully” to protect citizens from those people or companies that have failed to comply with health measures “putting health and economic reactivation at risk.”

Likewise, the Executive has pointed out that it will reinforce controls, they will be effective and with sanctions. However, he has insisted on demanding responsibility, “because there cannot be a policeman behind each person .”

Public complaints from young people

But the truth is that Francina Armengol’s warnings have come after the pressure of harsh criticism of her Government and the slow reaction to the trigger that caused the macro outbreak in Mallorca. Precisely OKDIARIO published that dozens of the 268 young people who while on vacation in Mallorca have been forcibly confined in a hotel denounce that they feel totally abandoned, living in precarious conditions and without having some basic needs covered.

On the other hand, claims for aid from young students have been submitted to their monitors as well as to travel agencies and, of course, to the Government of Armengol. They have also requested help so that their basic needs were taken care of, such as: medicines, different cleaning materials and personal care or, even, technological means of support.

Another response from the families of these young people was the mother of one of the 268 students who are isolated in a Covid hotel in Palma de Mallorca due to the macro outbreak, a lawyer by profession, and who has denounced the general director of Public Health of the Government of Francina Armengol , María Antònia Font , for the crimes of illegal detention and prevarication. The reason for the complaint is that the children were taken without parental permission .

Meanwhile, the president of the Balearic Islands, announces future measures to prevent events like this of the macro outbreak in Mallorca from happening again and one of the backbones of the Balearic economy, such as tourism, does not suffer.
