The Bremen Freimarkt is taking place again after a year of Corona break. It is the only folk festival of this size that takes place in Germany this year.
Bremen – The Cannstatter Wasen flew out of the event calendar again in Stuttgart in the middle of 2021 and the Oktoberfest 2021 in Munich fell victim to the pandemic again in year two of Corona. Almost all popular festivals up and down the country were canceled in the Corona year 2021. All? Freimarkt Bremen from October 15th to October 31st
It was quiet on the Bürgerweide for a year, but after a one-year break, from October 15th it will finally be “Ischa Freimaak *” again for 17 days. Carousels and Ferris wheel await the numerous visitors in Bremen. 251 shops invite you to take a stroll through one of the oldest folk festivals in Germany on the Bürgerweide directly at Bremen’s main train station. It is recommended to travel by public transport *, as the interior department in Bremen has already announced rigorous action against parking offenders * during the free market in 2021.
Bremer Freimarkt 2021: Volksfest is open daily from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. until October 31
The 985th Bremer Freimarkt runs until October 31st and is open daily from 1:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., on Fridays and Saturdays until midnight. The 3G rule * applies on the Freimarkt, visitors must show at the two entrances that they have been vaccinated, recovered or tested. At the same time, only 20,000 visitors are allowed on the site, the Bremen Senate announced the rules.

The official starting signal for the fifth season of Bremen is when the large Freimarkt heart is hung around the Bremen landmark Roland at 4 p.m. on the market square in the city center. Afterwards, the President of the City Council, Frank Imhoff (CDU), will give the triple call “Ischa Freimaak” before the official opening at 6:00 pm. Senator Vogt will pierce a beer barrel in the Almhütten beer garden and thus declare the 985th Bremer Freimarkt open.
Bremer Freimarkt 2021: Classics such as bumper cars, chain carousels or break dancers are waiting for visitors
The 251 approvals issued by the market administration include many popular classics such as bumper cars, chain carousels, Break Dancers, Commander and Wilde Maus *. Four railways, 18 rides, 14 children’s carousels and 103 snack bars offer everything for a stroll through the fair, including lottery booths, play shops and bars.
For the first time, three rides are on the Bremen Freimarkt. “Heidi the Coaster” climbs 13 meters and is fast at almost 60 kilometers per hour. The freely rotating gondolas ensure real driving pleasure on the 430 meter long route. The “Pirate River” wild water ride also provides a thrill with two descents. And finally, the “Take Off” invites you to take a ride on 60 degree inclined windows and rotating gondolas.
Bremer Freimarkt 2021: The corona-related 3G rule applies to visiting the Volksfest in Bremen
Due to the pandemic, there are also no events such as the opening fireworks or the Freimarkt parade at the Freimarkt 2021. The area on the Bürgerweide is fenced and has two entrances. The 3G rule applies to the visit. All guests must provide evidence upon entry that they have been vaccinated, recovered or tested.
Rapid tests carried out privately do not apply. Children and young people under the age of 16 do not have to provide any proof. The free market does not cost any admission and there is no need to book time slots in advance. On October 31, the Freimarkt will be buried as usual.
