The autopsy on Gabby Petito’s body has been completed. Coroners find a homicide, with the cause of death still pending. The case remains a mystery.
North Port / Moose / Washington – In the mysterious case of Gabby Petito, the medical examiner in the US state of Wyoming assumes a homicide. This was announced by the local FBI.
The exact cause of death has not yet been determined, “since the final autopsy results are still pending,” it said. It was also confirmed that the body found on Sunday was 22-year-old Gabby Petito.
Friend of the killed cannot be found
The woman’s 23-year-old friend came back alone from the couple’s road trip through the United States in early September and has not been found since last week. Investigators had been looking for Petito over the weekend in the area of Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. Eventually they found the young woman’s human remains there.
The case is making waves in the USA and is also attracting international attention – not least because the Florida couple shared numerous pictures and videos from their trip on social networks. The two had set off on a trip to the USA in the summer. On September 1, the boyfriend came back home to Florida alone, according to police, ten days later Petito’s parents reported their daughter as missing.
Authorities continued to search for Petito’s boyfriend Tuesday and raided his home in Florida. dpa
