A team of space engineers and architects based in Barcelona is building the Galactic Suites Space Resort , a space hotel complex 250 kilometers from the earth’s surface that will circle the planet every 80 minutes , at 30,000 kilometers per hour. Lucky guests will be able to see the sunrise 15 times a day. Reservations can be made from 2012.
“It is normal for us to think that our children, possibly within 15 years, may consider spending a weekend vacation in space,” says Xavier Claramunt, promoter of this pioneering project. Of course, the capacity of the hotel is limited: only four tourists and two astronauts can occupy it simultaneously. To spend three nights in its exclusive suites , in the form of a capsule and with windows to observe the Earth and the stars, it will be necessary to pay three million euros and complete a 5-month training on a tropical island.
