Gasoline price is falling: refueling in Germany is becoming cheaper again

In the past few months, gasoline prices have skyrocketed. They are now falling again – nevertheless, the ADAC advises finding inexpensive petrol stations.

Munich – Gasoline prices in Germany continue to fall. As the ADAC announced on Wednesday (December 8th, 2021), the national average price for a liter of E10 was most recently 1.596 euros and thus 3.8 cents below the price of the previous week. In the previous week, the gasoline price had fallen by 3.7 cents. According to ADAC, the reason for the lower gasoline prices is the falling oil prices on the international markets. In the past few months, gasoline prices have risen immensely. In the hope of cheaper fuel, motorists stormed gas stations in the Czech Republic.

According to ADAC, the price for crude oil is currently around ten dollars (8.87 euros) below its annual high. The diesel price also fell by 2.1 cents compared to the previous week to an average of 1.516 euros. The price difference between petrol and diesel has thus decreased further and is currently eight cents. The tax difference between the fuel types is significantly greater: According to ADAC, this is over 20 cents per liter.

Despite falling gasoline prices, ADAC advises: Better to refuel in the evening

In view of the still high price level, the ADAC advises motorists to make sure they find petrol stations that are as inexpensive as possible. In addition, petrol and diesel are usually cheapest between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. and between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. If you take this rule of thumb into account and take advantage of the price differences between the different times of the day and the providers, you can always save a few euros when refueling.
