Germany is looking for a repository for nuclear waste

The location should be found by 2031, and the materials should be stored there from 2050. Here you can read more about it:

Germany needs a repository for highly radioactive waste from nuclear power plants. The location should be found by 2031, and the materials should be stored there from 2050. Sending nuclear waste abroad is prohibited by EU law and, unlike in Sweden, there are no regions in this country that apply to be repository sites. Some areas were quickly ruled out as locations because they are not geologically suitable for a nuclear waste repository. Not so the Ostalbkreis, which, like 90 other regions in Germany, can definitely be considered as a location. The Schwäbische Post* reports more about the location search.
