Ghislaine Maxwell: With Epstein on the "hunt for vulnerable young girls"

Ghislaine Maxwell is on trial. Together with Jeffrey Epstein, she is said to have introduced underage girls into a “pyramid scheme of abuse”.

  • Ghislaine Maxwell, business partner and friend of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, is on trial in the United States.
  • Ghislaine Maxwell faces serious allegations. She is said to have been Jeffrey Epstein’s accomplice and to have helped him recruit his victims.
  • The accused rejects all allegations. All the news from the process.

New York – The trial of long-time confidante of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, has begun in New York. The 59-year-old is accused of recruiting minors. Four alleged Maxwell and Epstein victims will testify in court.

In addition, Epstein’s pilot, parts of the house staff, members of the law enforcement authorities and a former employee of the multimillionaire are to be heard during the process. There are also various pieces of evidence to be considered in the process: “a schoolgirl outfit,” flight logs, and FedEx records. This evidence is said to show Epstein’s gifts to a girl who was only 15 years old. This is reported by the American website The Daily Beast.

Ghislaine Maxwell tries to distance himself from Jeffrey Epstein

“Ever since Eve was accused of seducing Adam with the apple, women have been held responsible for the bad behavior of men,” said Maxwell’s defense attorney Bobbi Sternheim on Monday (November 29, 2021). “The charges against Ghislaine Maxwell are about things Jeffrey Epstein did … but she’s not Jeffrey Epstein. She’s not like Jeffrey Epstein, [she is] not like other powerful men – moguls, media giants – who abuse women. “

Maxwell is said to have been “best friend and right hand man” of Epstein

The prosecutor countered that Maxwell was Epstein’s “best friend and right hand man”. Deputy US Attorney Lara Pomerantz described Maxwell’s role as follows: “She hunted down vulnerable young girls, manipulated them and offered them up for abuse … That is what this trial is about.” One of the victims is said to have spoken of it that Maxwell himself was involved in the abuse.

In addition, the prosecution drew parallels between Epstein and Maxwell’s father, Robert Maxwell. The newspaper magnate, whose life itself was quite puzzling, left his family heavily in debt when he died. Epstein is said to have returned Ghislaine Maxwell to the lifestyle she was used to in the past.

Prosecutor’s allegations against Maxwell “far from substantiated”

Contrary to previous appearances in court, Maxwell was collected and reserved, in neat and neutral clothes. She was cheerful towards her sister. During the course of the hearing, she made extensive notes.

The prosecutor’s allegations against Maxwell are described by The Daily Beast as “far from substantiated”. You can find more details about the accusations in the initial report on Monday (29.11.2021). Maxwell’s defense lawyers, meanwhile, try to cast the testimony of various alleged victims in a bad light by questioning their memories and motives.

Defense attorney Sternheim said: “This case is about memory, manipulation and money.” The lawyer added that the memories of the alleged victims had faded over time. Furthermore, the memories have been “corrupted” over the years by things, including the victims’ lawyers looking for a “big jackpot of money” – and by media reports.

Maxwell charged as Epstein’s only accomplice “in connection with his human trafficking ring”

In July 2019, Epstein was arrested again by the New York authorities: They accused him of a “pyramid scheme of abuse” of underage girls. In August of the same year, the US multimillionaire was found dead in his cell.

A year later, in 2020, Maxwell was arrested by the FBI. She hid in a remote New Hampshire mansion with her husband. Maxwell is currently Epstein’s only accomplice “charged in connection with his trafficking ring,” the Daily Beast article reads. (jey)
