Gigantic herring salad – world record on Usedom

World record number three for the Usedom fish sommelier André Domke: After the largest fish soljanka and the largest fish aspic, he again makes it onto a world best list.

Heringsdorf – With a portion of 147 kilograms of herring salad, restaurateur André Domke has set a world record in Heringsdorf on Usedom.

The former professional boxer Axel Schulz and the legendary boxing trainer Ulli Wegner helped with the preparation and subsequent consumption of the dish called Heringshäckerle.

“The preparation is only one side of the coin. The challenge begins with the planning, because I not only have to prepare and serve my record dishes true to the original, but also ensure that they are actually eaten in accordance with the record rules, ”said the certified fish sommelier Domke.

“André Domke is always drawn to the public with his ideas,” said record judge Olaf Kuchenbecker from the record institute for Germany. He keeps reinventing himself and surprising us with his top culinary achievements. Domke is a repeat offender. In 2018, according to Kuchenbecker, he already set a world record with the largest fish aspic and in 2019 one with the largest pot of fish soljanka.

Heringshäckerle

According to Domke, a record with Labskaus was also planned in the meantime. Because of the corona virus, however, one switched to Heringshäckerle, since the cold food can also be served outside if necessary. The dish consists of matjes fillet, apples, onions, dill and pickles, among other things. It is a typical regional recipe.

According to Kuchenbecker, it was the first such attempt at a world record. The amount was set in such a way that the performance must be record-breaking. On the other hand, it should also be possible for the portion to be eaten. According to Domke, the proceeds from the tasting will be donated to the Greifswald Children’s Hospice Lighthouse.

According to its own statements, the record institute for Germany collects, tests and presents top performances of all kinds and specializes in German-speaking countries. dpa
