Grupo Argos’ consolidated income for the first quarter of 2021 reached $ 3.7 trillion, 3% above the $ 3.6 trillion recorded during the same period of 2020. Ebitda (gross profit before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortizations) reached $ 952,000 million and the company achieved a net profit of $ 191,000 million.
The company also highlighted that during the first quarter of 2021 it announced its goal of reducing CO2 emissions with a plan that will allow it to reduce them by 46% for every million pesos of consolidated income by 2030 and that marks its path towards carbon neutrality.
In addition, he announced that he closed the first loan in the country tied to sustainability indicators for $ 392,000 million with Bancolombia and that S&P confirmed its AA + rating and changed the outlook from stable to positive, “in recognition of the response of the Business Group to the pandemic of the COVID-19, the resilience in the portfolio and the good financial results of the first quarter of 2021 ″.
The company announces three actions to generate employment
The company announced on Thursday three programs to contribute to the national situation by generating employment, fighting climate change and improving the quality of life of vulnerable and poor families in Colombia.
1. “Business alliance for the reactivation of employment”. With the support of Comfama, Proantioquia and other companies, Grupo Argos will train 6,000 young people and women and will focus efforts to achieve the employability of 2,000 people. The program will have an initial investment of $ 16,000 million.
2. “Sembrando Futuro” plants a million trees per year in addition to the eight million that the company has already planted in Colombia. “We will plant a million trees annually in Colombia from 2021. Aware of the importance of contributing to efforts to combat climate change and tackle deforestation and generate employment, we assume a commitment that positions us as the private actor that most trees have been planted voluntarily in the country, “the company said in a statement.
The program will have an investment of $ 2,700 million and seeks to generate 1,000 jobs for every million trees.
3. “Healthy Environments” program to improve housing and quality of life for more than 5,000 people in the country. “We will continue to dignify the living environments of our neighboring communities in Antioquia, Valle, Sucre, Bolívar and Atlántico, replacing dirt floors with concrete floors and developing healthy environments with kitchens and bathrooms.”
According to the company, 35,000 people have benefited from this program and they plan to support 5,200 more people this year.
