Grupo Bimbo records historical levels of sales, volume and profit in 2021

Grupo Bimbo closed 2021 with record levels of sales, volume and profit, attributable to a favorable price mix in all regions. The baking company reported in its financial report for the fourth quarter of 2021 that its sales reached 348,887 million pesos, an increase of 5.4% compared to 2020.

Its net profit was 15,916 million pesos in 2021, 74.7% more than the result of 2020.

“2021 was an exceptional year for Grupo Bimbo, we reached record levels of sales, volume and profit while transforming the business in a complex operating environment. Gross profit in 2021 was 185,313 million pesos, 3.9% more than in 2020, while operating profit increased 34.3% to reach 34,126 million pesos.

As for its Ebitda, this was 49,178 million pesos, registering an increase of 8.8% compared to its 2020 level.

The region that contributed the most to Bimbo sales in 2021 was North America with 50.5%, followed by Mexico (30.7%), Europe, Asia and Africa (9.8%), and Latin America (9.0%).

In this sense, the company pointed out that in 2021 it “successfully” completed six strategic acquisitions: two in the United States, two in India, one in Spain and one in Brazil.

Bimbo accumulated a total debt of 92,855 million pesos as of December 31, 2021, with an increase of 8.95% compared to what it had at the end of 2020. According to its financial report. “The increase was explained by investments in capital, financing for acquisitions, as well as the return to shareholders.”
