Japan will show off its great technological development in this world athletic fair that was moved to 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Can you imagine a giant robot, 18 meters high, walking through the city as if it were an anime?
This is Gundam, Gundam RX-78-2 , a mecha that is starting to come to life. And it is not a trivial machine: it is the largest mobile humanoid robot in history.
With a design inspired by multiple TV series and manga, this is by far the most incredible robot we've seen so far. It is currently under construction at Gundam Factory Yokohama , Japan, raising and lowering its legs, preparing for its debut in October 2020, although this date could vary due, again, to the pandemic situation that the world is experiencing.
So even if you're not ready to fight the villains yet, it 's clear that a totally independent walk is about to become a reality.
This superb robot features articulated fingers, 24 degrees of freedom, and the ability to support its massive 25-ton weight, adding to Japan's impressive robotics records.
Where are they building Gundam?
The robot resides on the outskirts of Tokyo, in the port of Yokohama, where it will remain for a year.
