Heat wave in Europe: up to 43 degrees – does the bull heat hit Germany too?

A brutal heat wave is making Europe sweat. While the weather in Germany cools down briefly, Greece, Turkey and Italy report highs.

Offenbach – For more than a week, the warm Sahara air has plagued people in Europe. Especially Greece and Turkey are hit hard by the bull heat. Temperatures there are expected to rise to 43 degrees Celsius. The weather * in southern Italy and Sicily continues to be dominated by the scorching heat.

On Friday (June 25th, 2021) the thermometer in Sicily even showed 45 degrees. In some regions there is not even the nightly coolness, as the temperatures hardly go below 30, as the German Weather Service * (DWD) in Offenbach reports in cooperation with meteoalarm.

Germany is currently far from such temperatures. But there were sometimes heavy thunderstorms * and storms * in this country. At the weekend, however, the heat returns for a brief moment. The reason for this is cold air over the Atlantic, which causes a balancing movement in which warm air flows from the southwest towards Europe.

Weather in Europe: Cooling off in Germany – bull heat hits southern Europe

The central and eastern Mediterranean, the Balkans and Eastern Europe are particularly affected by the heat wave. There it can be 33 to 38 degrees. Sometimes 40 degrees and more. The hot weather in the next few days will be the most troublesome for people in southern Italy, Greece and Turkey. Up to 43 degrees are in here. Before the heat wave in Germany last week with temperatures over 35 degrees, the German Weather Service (DWD) announced the “pink warning level”.

In Germany the weather will get hotter again towards the weekend. “At the beginning of next week at the latest, we will see 30 degrees again,” explains meteorologist Jan Schenk at Focus. In the northern coastal regions of Germany alone, the temperatures remain somewhat milder. But before it gets hot again, Germany will face severe storms. Meteorologist Dominik Jung * warns of floods and possible flash floods in southern Germany. In addition there are hail * and squalls.

But southern Europe is also on the brink of relief from the heat of the bulls. Next weekend, the maximum temperatures in the region should be 28 to 34 degrees, as the weather portal wetter.de announced. Normal summer values would then be achieved again.
