Heavy snowfall affects life in Tokyo. The population was urged to be more cautious.
Tokyo – Snow alarm in Tokyo: For the first time in around four years, the Meteorological Authority issued a warning about heavy snowfall on Thursday for all 23 districts of the island's capital.
Because of the danger from icy roads and traffic accidents, the population was urged to be more cautious. In Tokyo and the surrounding area there was already around three centimeters of snow in the afternoon (local time). Dozens of flights were canceled.
It also snowed in other areas of the Kanto region. The northernmost main island of Japan, Hokkaido, has been particularly hard hit by snow masses for days. There was traffic chaos there. dpa
