For a few months now, Baritalia has been marketed in our country, a disposable cup of coffee that heats up by itself, that is, without the need for electricity, gas or any other source of energy.
Originally devised by the Neapolitan engineer Francisco Guido to warm his daughter's bottle when she went skiing, the device works in the simplest way. The glass is divided into three independent chambers: the first contains the drink coffee, chocolate, infusion, etc .; the second, calcium salts , and the third, water. By gently pressing the bottom of the glass, a rod breaks the aluminum membrane that separates the compartment from water and from calcium salts. The chemical reaction between these two compounds is exothermic, that is, it produces heat . It is enough to shake the glass for a few seconds so that the drink warms up to a temperature never exceeding 70º C.
