That he flirts with more self-confidence after a few drinks seems to be an accepted fact, but the sexual disinhibition associated with alcohol consumption has more to do with a placebo effect than with the properties of the substance. That is, we get drunk as an excuse to let our hair down. This is clear from the results of an experiment by the Department of Psychology at Rutgers University, in New Jersey (USA), in which a group of volunteers was made to drink a liquid. Half were convinced that it was an alcoholic beverage, and the other half were told otherwise.
When they were shown an erotic video, the first group, who believed they were tipsy, were more likely to say that they had had unusual sexual fantasies without feeling guilty about it. This occurred regardless of the composition of the brew. Obviously, contentillos were more uninhibited because they could attribute their desires to alcohol.
