In September 2020 we learned that the next-generation US presidential aircraft, popularly and traditionally known as Air Force One , could consist of a supersonic aircraft capable of flying at more than 2,200 kilometers per hour.
For this, the Executive and Presidential Directorate of Air Transport of the United States Air Force awarded a contract to Exosonic , a startup company based in California, which managed to capture the attention of the military with its double supersonic jet Mach 1.8 , the which will have the support of the Air Force Research Laboratory, with the intention of developing a supersonic commercial aircraft and subsequently modifying it to serve as an executive transport vehicle.
According to those responsible for Exosonic, with this concept the company plans to implement a series of new technologies that, until now, are not available or are not yet present in commercial or business aircraft.
And, for its construction, the president’s supersonic aircraft has been developed from Exosonic’s 70-passenger airliner concept, with a modified cabin with a maximum capacity of 31 passengers.
It also has two private suites. The first corresponds to a meeting room with a capacity for three people, which has secure video conferencing , with swivel seats upholstered with the thinnest body and wooden shells, while the on-board screens can be stored to leave space. to other teams.
The second suite has a capacity for eight passengers, and would be designed for senior staff, with reclining seats with tables that can be adjusted for adults. In turn, the main cabin has 20 business class seats, along with plenty of storage space, two bathrooms and two kitchens.
According to Exosonic, the plane has a maximum speed of 1.8 Mach (more than 2,200 km / h, which would be twice the speed of current commercial aircraft) and a range of 5,000 nautical miles (equivalent to 9,260 kilometers).
At the moment, the company continues to work with the goal of flying over the ground at supersonic speeds without generating a deafening sonic boom. And, although the manufacture of the jet itself is highly developed, it is estimated that it could make its first flight in mid-2030 .
