To date, more than 120 foods have been identified that can cause allergies. Among them, the European Institute for Food Research, which is part of the EuroPrevall project, highlights gluten-containing cereals, milk, eggs, peanuts, dried fruits in general, soybeans as of particular concern for global public health , fish and seafood . Less well known (and less frequent too) are the allergy to grapes (which can cause oral allergy but also hives, itching on the soles of the feet and the palms of the hands, tachycardia …) and cherries .
It has also been detected that in southern Europe allergy to peaches is more common than in the rest of the world, both raw and in juice. Celery allergy is atypically common in central Europe. There are even cases of allergy to carrots, both raw and eaten, which include symptoms such as difficulty swallowing, hives, vertigo and conjunctivitis. On the other hand, people allergic to latex in up to 80% of cases also tend to have an allergic reaction to banana, avocado and kiwi .
