Officially launched in September 2017, it is true that Apple has continued to expand the number and type of devices that integrate Face ID , its facial recognition technology that replaced the Touch ID fingerprint system. In this way, it is possible to find it implemented not only in the latest iPhones (such as the iPhone 11 and iPhone 12), but also in the current generation iPad Pro.
Not surprisingly, we can find this technology in a wide variety of devices, such as: iPhone X, iPhone XR, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone 11 (all models), iPhone 12 (all models), iPad Pro (11 inch) and iPad Pro (12.9-inch, 2018 version).
However, it is true that we can still find Touch ID in some fairly recent devices, such as the second generation iPhone SE , on sale right now.
If you already have Face ID set up on your iPhone or iPad, you may not need to make any changes. But, sometimes, it is possible that we share our device with another person. If so, adding another Face ID may become a useful option.
If so, you should know that it is perfectly possible, since iOS offers us the possibility of adding an alternative appearance in Face ID .
Adding another Face ID easily
Regardless of the reasons why you are interested in the possibility of adding an alternative Face ID to the one you already have configured by default on your device, below we explain how you can do it step by step.
First of all we must go to the Settings application, which, as you surely know, you will find on the home screen of the iPhone or iPad. Then, we scroll down and click on Face ID and code .
Once this is done, the system will ask us to enter our access code . After entering it, we will access the configuration of our Face ID, where we must then click on the Configure an alternative aspect button.
Now, again, we must follow the same steps that we followed at the time to configure Face ID for the first time, following the instructions that will appear on the screen.
When the first scan is finished, we will see a confirmation message, and then click on Continue and start with a second scan. Again, we repeat the process by rotating the face around the circle so that the camera can be able to capture it from all angles.
When the second scan has been completed, we will finally arrive at the message where the system will confirm that Face ID has been configured. Click on OK and we will return to the original configuration window.
