Although with the arrival of different streaming platforms such as Spotify, Amazon Music or Tidal, MP3 files seem to be in disuse, there are still users who are reluctant to pay for this type of services, so they continue to use their MP3 players .
As you surely know, a file with the .mp3 extension is characterized by being an audio file that uses a compression algorithm in order to reduce the final size of the file.
Since this compression is irreversible, and some of the original data from the source tends to be lost during the compression process, it is commonly known as the “lossy” format. Despite this, it is still perfectly possible to have MP3 files of a fairly high quality.
To get an idea of what the arrival of this type of files meant for the computer industry (and for the common user), we can pay attention to the weight that a file would have without loss of quality or data of 3 minutes, as it could be the case of WAV (a waveform audio file), which can have a weight of 30 MB. However, the same file, in MP3 format, would only be around 3-4MB.
But, although we can listen to these types of files on our MP3 player or directly on the computer, we may want to listen to it on the musical device (such as a mini system). How, then, could we burn MP3 songs to an audio CD ? We explain it to you.
Burning our MP3 songs to an audio CD in Windows
First of all, we must have a blank CD (data CD), which has a storage capacity of 700 MB. Of course, the capacity will depend on the type of CD you want. For example, if it is an audio CD itself (the option that interests us in this case), remember that it will store about 80 minutes of music , and it will be compatible with almost any CD player.
However, if you prefer to transfer the MP3 files to a data CD, in this case you will only have 700 MB of data (approximately).
Once we have it clear, we must open the Windows Media Player . In the player’s library, click on the Burn tab, choose the Recording options section, and select the option that interests us (in this case, audio CD ).
We insert a disc in the reader / recorder unit of our computer, and proceed to look for those MP3 files that we want to record in the player’s Library . Now, we drag them to the list panel (which we find in the right margin), and we create a recording list.
When we have it ready, click on the Start recording button.
Burning MP3 songs to an audio CD on Mac
Remember that in order to burn a CD on our Mac, the computer must have an optimal integrated drive, or connect an external CD-DVD drive (for example, the one known as USB SuperDrive developed by Apple).
When we have everything ready we start by inserting our empty disk into the disk drive. At this point a dialog box may appear. We simply click on the drop-down menu and select the option Use in Finder . Now, the disk will appear on the desktop.
We click twice on the disk icon in order to open its window. Now we simply have to drag those files that we want to record to this window, and proceed to sort or change the name of the files if we wish.
Now, we click File and Record , and we simply have to follow the instructions indicated by the application.
