Do you have a PSP or has it been recently given to you? Although it is true that today it is impossible to find a PlayStation Portable in stores, mainly due to the fact that it was originally replaced a few years ago by the current PSVita , it is possible to get a second-hand one, either in specialized stores or from particular form, acquiring it through a seller.
If this is the first time you are going to use it, it is normal that some doubts arise specifically related to its configuration and use. And connecting the PSP to a wireless network becomes one of the essential steps when we want to fully enjoy the different possibilities that this portable device offers us.
Connecting our PSP to a wireless network
Before starting the process, we must make sure that the WLAN switch is active and turned on , which will offer us the possibility of enabling the wireless connection (Wi-FI). Of course, if you have doubts about where you will find this switch, you should bear in mind that the area will depend on the PSP model you have.
For example, if it is a PSP-1000 or a PSPgo, you will find the WLAN switch located on the left side. On this occasion, to enable it, you just have to slide it up. However, if you have a PSP-2000 or 3000, the switch is at the top. You just have to slide it to the right.
Now we must look at the version of the operating system of the PSP, since it is necessary that it has at least version 2.0 to be able to connect to the Internet with the device. If necessary, we will have to update it .
Now we must move to Settings , Network settings and click on the X , which we will find located right at the bottom of the options column. Now we select Infrastructure mode and click again on the X of the device.
We select New Connection and press X again . This will offer us the possibility to create a new connection. We now choose Scan , and the PSP will begin to search for the wireless networks that are available right at that moment.
We choose the network we want to access, select the WPA-PSK (AES) option, which will establish the type of network security as WPA, and enter the password to access the connection. Then we choose the Easy option, which will help to use the default configuration of the router, and finally we save the configuration, which will complete the process.
Finally, if you wish, you can click on the Test connection option, so that the device will automatically test the Internet connection. If finally everything has gone well, the system will not throw any type of incident.
