Although it is true that the iPad has a really comfortable and simple to use touch screen, it is possible that, on some occasions, we want to replace our fingers (or our stylus) with a mouse , in the same way as if we were using a computer desktop or laptop.
It would be, it is true, a possibility that can help to significantly increase and improve the experience when using and working with the iPad.
And, as we have already explained to you on occasion, the wireless connectivity included in the device through the Bluetooth connection makes it perfectly possible to use a wireless mouse without cables, in a comfortable and practical way, not only in what is refers to the pairing, but to the use of the device.
But what do we do with the wired mouse ? Would it still be possible to use it in a similar way to how we do it with the wireless device? Or could there be some compatibility issues?
Luckily, it is equally viable to use a wired mouse with the iPad , as long as we connect it through the Lightning or USB-C port of our iPad. In this way, and once we connect it, we could start using it as we would on a computer.
Connecting and configuring a wired mouse on the iPad
Before starting the process, we must make sure that our iPad is running version iPadOS 13.1 or higher , and that, in addition, we have the correct type of adapter , which will depend on the iPad model we have.
For example, while most iPads would need a USB-A to Lightning adapter, in the case of the iPad Pro we would need a USB-A to USB-C adapter.
To connect it, we just have to use the adapter to connect the wired mouse directly to the iPad . Once this is done, we can access Settings and Accessibility , and then on AssistiveTouch , which we must activate by sliding the switch. From then on, a large circular cursor should appear on the screen.
To check if everything works as it should, we must move the cursor to confirm that the device responds to our movements.
From that moment on, we can comfortably enjoy our iPad browsing its operating system and apps with the help of the wired mouse. Of course, remember that having cable you will always need to be on a desk table, not being able to use it anywhere else.
