While Microsoft Word has become one of the most popular and used text editors for years (as a consequence of the number of users who use it every day), PDF has in turn become the format par excellence for documents of text in which it is intended to maintain both its design and its content.
Not surprisingly, a file with this extension is a portable document format file , which usually tend to be used for the purpose of distributing read-only documents that preserve the page layout.
Although it is used mainly for electronic books, scanned documents, user manuals or forms, the truth is that at home we can also choose this file format, especially in those cases in which we want to share a certain document with an acquaintance or familiar, but we don’t want you to modify it.
Until a few years ago, to convert a document from Word to PDF, an application developed by third parties was needed, since Microsoft’s text editing program did not have the function to do so.
Luckily, for some time now it is no longer necessary to install any external program or even go to different online tools (with the risk that this entails for the security of the content of that particular document and our own privacy itself). On the contrary, we only have to continue using Microsoft Word to convert our document to the PDF format .
Converting our Word document to PDF
Nowadays, the process to follow to convert any Word document into PDF is enough to follow the steps that we would follow, for example, when saving our file . No more is required.
In fact, we just have to open the document we want to convert, go to the main menu, click on File and then Save as . Now, in the pop-up window that appears, you only have to go to File format, and in the menu that will appear, choose the PDF format.
Once this is done, by default the Ideal for printing option will appear as chosen, so in reality we would not have to do more except click on the Export button.
Remember that, once converted into PDF, the portable file itself cannot be edited unless you reopen the Word document in the application. Or, open it in the Adobe Acrobat Pro program or any other application designed for editing this type of document.
