Since its official launch in October 1983 for the Xenix MS-DOS platform (although it is true that it was not until the arrival of Windows 3.0 in 1990 that it became much more popular), today an estimated 1.2 billion users all over the world they continue to use Microsoft Office on a more or less stable basis, which obviously includes the Microsoft Word program.
It has become one of the most widely used word processing and editing program on the market, included as one more component of the Microsoft Office office suite, although it is true that it is also possible to purchase it independently, and we also find it included in the Microsoft Works suite.
Among the wide variety of functionalities that the program offers us when it comes to processing and writing texts, the comments option can become one of the most useful, since it offers the possibility of making annotations throughout an entire document , and then view them in the side menu located on the right side of the Word document.
Although it is perfectly possible to eliminate this sidebar, it is also possible to eliminate or edit the comments included in the document in which we are working. We explain how you can do it.
Deleting comments easily in Microsoft Word
First of all, as is logical to imagine, we must open the Microsoft Word document that we want to edit. To do this, we simply have to do it through the main menu, accessing from File and Open , or from Windows Explorer, by double-clicking on the document you want to use.
In order to edit or delete comments, it is necessary to make sure that they are displayed. In case the comment bar is not visible (which we will find on the right side of the document), we must click on the Review tab, click on the Show marked drop-down box, and finally mark the Comments option.
Once the comments appear, we go to the comment that we want to delete. Now we must click on the comment with the right mouse button , in such a way that, when doing so, a new drop-down menu will appear (remember that if you are using macOS it is necessary to hold down the Ctrl key on the keyboard at the same time as you click on the comment you want to delete).
Now we click on Delete comment , which we will find right in the drop-down menu that has appeared. This will remove the comment immediately.
However, if what you prefer is to delete all the comments at once , you just have to go to Review , click on the arrow located just below the Delete button, and click on Delete all comments from the document , which is in the dropdown menu. Clever!
Remember that if you want to recover the deleted comments, you just have to click on the Undo button.
