How to delete comments on Instagram

Like most social media platforms, Instagram is a double-edged sword. For one thing, it’s a great place to build community and followers. On the other hand, you have to deal with enemies and trolls who can leave rude and nasty comments.

While you cannot control the negative comments that others choose to leave on their posts, if you choose to choose to remove or hide offensive or other comments, you can. And of course there is always the possibility of deactivating comments on Instagram if you do not want to deal with negativity.

It may also be that you have accidentally written something that you prefer to delete on someone else’s wall. The reasons can be many and the process is very simple.

How to delete a comment on Android

Start by opening the Instagram app on your Android device and then looking for the Instagram post in question, the one you want to delete. After opening the Instagram application, you can go to the Notifications section to find the recent comments left on the post. While viewing that post, tap the Comments icon (that speech bubble icon) to see all the comments associated with the post. Locate the comment (yours or someone else’s) that you want to delete. If you are using an Android mobile, touch and hold the comment to select it; then tap on the Trash icon on the top toolbar and the comment will be deleted.
You will see a banner at the top of the screen informing you that the comment has been removed. If you change your mind, you have a few seconds to tap the “Undo” button to restore the comment. If you wait any longer, you won’t be able to do it anymore. There will be no turning back.

Unlike Android, on iPhone a small menu called “Comments” will open. This is where you must press the option “Manage comments”. To delete them, one or all of them, you just have to select the comments you want to delete, you will see that they are selected and at this point you just have to click on the Delete option that you will see in the lower left area of the screen.
