How to Pair and Use Smart Keyboard Folio to iPad Easily

Currently, if you have a more or less recent iPad (especially an iPad Air or an iPad Pro), you have the possibility of finding two keyboards designed, manufactured and developed by Apple itself in stores, in order to add an external keyboard and a sleeve to the device.

But one of them offers an added advantage. And, as we have already discovered and commented on you at some point or other, the one known as Magic Keyboard not only offers the possibility of adding a protective cover and a comfortable and practical keyboard. It also contains a trackpad, which allows us to turn our iPad into a practical laptop.

In any case, if you want a slightly lighter option, with a fabric keyboard as curious as it is comfortable, and which is also characterized by being water resistant, there is no doubt that your option could be the Smart Keyboard Folio which, like its own The name indicates, it is characterized by being a little thinner and by perfectly fulfilling the functionality of the external keyboard (because it is just that: a cover that simultaneously serves as a keyboard).

Although pairing it is enormously simple and simple, if it is the first time you are going to do it, it is normal that you have some doubts. Precisely, we discover on this occasion how you can pair it and how to use it with the iPad from that moment on.

Pairing our Smart Keyboard Folio with the iPad

Before continuing, you should know that the Smart Keyboard Folio is compatible with an 11-inch iPad Pro (both first and second generation), or a 12-inch iPad Pro (third or fourth generation).

The same will not be the case with the Smart Keyboard (the previous version), which will be compatible with the 7th generation iPad, the 3rd generation iPad Air or the 9.7-inch iPad Pro, the 10.5-inch iPad Pro or a 12.9-inch iPad Pro (1st and 2nd generation).

Please note that unlike keyboards with Bluetooth connectivity, it is not necessary to pair or activate the Smart Keyboard Folio . But the way to connect it will depend on the iPad model we have.

For example, if we have an 11-inch iPad Pro (first or second generation), or a 12.9-inch iPad Pro (third or fourth generation), we can use the Smart Connector , which consists of a connector that we find located on the back of the iPad Pro and has three small magnetic contacts. Next, we will put the iPad in writing position.

In the case of a previous iPad, it will be enough to connect the Smart Connector that we will find on the upper edge of the Smart Keyboard and on the side of the iPad, then placing it in the writing position.

Putting the Smart Keyboard Folio in the Typing Position

It is actually a very straightforward and simple step. Just open the case and fold the Smart Keyboard into a triangle; in this way, the keyboard will be placed in front of the iPad.

Of course, to be able to use the keyboard, it will be necessary for the iPad to be in the slot located just above the number keys, immediately after having placed it in the writing position.

Is it possible to use the touch screen keyboard at the same time?

If you want to continue using the on-screen touch keyboard while the Smart Keyboard Folio (which Apple calls the software keyboard ) is connected, you can do so by easily displaying it on the screen.

To do so, you just have to press the keyboard button that you will find located in the right corner of the screen, and in the pop-up menu that appears, press the Show keyboard button. To hide it, you will only have to press this button again to reject it.
