Windows Update is a free service that Microsoft uses to provide all important updates for your operating system, Windows , as well as any other software developed by the company, such as improvements in certain applications.
In addition, it becomes an essential tool to keep our operating system properly updated , not only with the update of drivers and drivers (so that our devices work perfectly, without causing problems), but also patches and other security updates .
Keeping our operating system properly updated is essential, since updates tend to include useful security patches to protect Windows from malware and malicious attacks, or we can even enjoy different improvements not only in the OS itself, but also in the applications .
Its use is actually very simple, and in most cases the updates are downloaded and installed automatically, unless we deactivate the service or tell the system that only we will manually search for the updates, and choose which ones to install.
But sometimes we may need to disable automatic Windows updates (as we explained later), or we may simply want to temporarily pause them . The truth is that doing so is a very simple process, useful for momentarily stopping updates and the operation of Windows Update itself.
Pausing automatic updates from Windows Update
If you need to temporarily postpone the installation of updates on your computer, Windows Update offers you the ability to pause them for up to 35 days .
Although, later, we can quickly reactivate them at any time, there is something that we must take into account: it will not be possible to pause them again until the device in question does not have the most recent updates installed .
To pause them, we must access the Settings panel with the Start button. In the Windows Settings screen we have to click on Update and Security .
Right in the Windows Update section, it is necessary to look for the Advanced options option, which we will find within the Update Settings section. Once we have found it, click on it.
Now, within Advanced options, we will find the Pause updates section, where we can temporarily disable automatic updates.
To achieve this we just have to activate the switch that we will find located just below under the label ‘Deactivated’, so that, when we press it, it will have a blue color and the label ‘Activated’ will be displayed.
The system will inform just below this button until what date the updates will be deactivated, although then, from that day on, they will be active again.
