How to restart or reset the iPhone 12 and what it is for

Just a few weeks ago the iPhone 12 has been on sale, although it is true that it is still not possible to acquire or buy all the models developed by Apple of this new device. As you may recall, the iPhone 12 is available in a total of four different versions: the 6.1-inch iPhone 12, the 5.4-inch Mini, the 6.1-inch Pro, and the 6.7-inch Pro Max.

However, we are already learning some useful tricks that allow us to fully enjoy the new mobile phone manufactured by the brand of the bitten apple. And, on other occasions, more than tricks they become authentic solutions for certain problems or incidents.

A good example is found in the need to restart or reset the iPhone 12 . The truth is that the reasons why we want to do something like this can be very varied, although in most cases it has to do only with a momentary malfunction of the device, an unusual behavior of the same, or a software error (for example, when an application freezes and it is impossible to continue using the terminal).

Why reboot or reset an iPhone 12?

Restarting or resetting an iPhone basically means forcing the phone to turn off automatically, commonly when it is not possible to do it in a normal way (that is, selecting the appropriate option and designed by iOS to turn off the device).

The causes for which we could be forced to force the restart of our beloved iPhone without being able to do it as we normally would are usually varied, although in most cases it is necessary to do it when the phone starts to work strangely .

For example, when it stops responding, it is not possible to force close certain applications that have suddenly crashed or stopped working. Or when it is not possible to turn it off by holding down the power button (yes, in the versions where this is possible).

Rebooting or resetting our new iPhone 12 easily

The reality is that the process is as straightforward as it is simple. Although, yes, it is necessary to know how to do it to be able to carry it out correctly, which means that it is essential to follow the appropriate steps to achieve the desired result.

First of all, we must press and release the Volume Up button. Then, we press and release the Volume Down button. And finally, we hold the side button until the Apple logo appears on the screen. Once it appears, we end up releasing the side button.

We must bear in mind that, during the process, it is normal to see the typical slider that allows us to turn off the iPhone completely. Ideally, ignore it completely, and continue holding the side button until the screen goes dark. Right at that moment the Apple logo will appear, and once the reboot is complete, the device screen will wake up again.

As we can see, this option is useful when we need to restart or reset the terminal due to a malfunction, but we do not want to turn off the iPhone completely (which, by the way, would require a few more steps).

Of course, remember that if you want to turn off the iPhone, you can always do so by going to the Settings section, then clicking on Settings , and sliding to the bottom of the menu, where the Turn off option will appear.

You can also turn it off completely by pressing the side button at the same time that you press the button to increase or decrease the volume . Once done, two sliders will appear on the screen (one to turn off the system and one to make an SOS emergency call). Finally, we will choose the Slide to turn off option.

By the way, the steps indicated below are valid for any iPhone 12 model, so regardless of which version you are using, the steps to follow to restart the phone will always be the same.
