If for a while we have used an Android mobile phone, and at some point we decide to take the step of starting to use an iPhone , it is quite likely that we would be interested in having the same data, files and applications that we had in the first device on this last device, which would include not just apps and documents, but photos, contacts, calendars, and accounts.
It is something totally normal, since it is not very pleasant to start with a smart mobile phone from scratch, even when we are faced with devices with completely different operating systems, especially when it comes to photos and videos.
Luckily, some time ago Apple launched Move to iOS , an application designed exclusively for this purpose, offering the possibility of connecting our old Android device and the new iPhone to move as much data as possible .
This app uses a direct WiFi connection , which is expressly created at the time of transferring the data , so that the transfer of the data can be carried out as quickly as possible. Of course, you have to take into account some essential aspects. And is that ‘Move to iOS’ does not transfer applications (precisely because they are not compatible), music or any of our passwords, especially as a security measure.
However, it does offer us, at least, the possibility of sharing most of the data that we would like to have on the new device, such as photos, videos, calendars and contacts .
How to move our data from Android to iPhone with the Move to iOS app
Since it is quite possible that we have not yet turned on our new iPhone, it is necessary to configure it until we reach a screen titled Applications and data . On this occasion, we must touch the option Move data from Android .
Once this is done, we must stand in front of our Android phone, open the Google Play Store , and look for the Move to iOS application. Once we have found it, we access the corresponding section and click the Install button. From the moment it has been installed, press the Open button.
Now we touch Continue on both the iPhone and the Android phone, select Accept and then Next (this time on the Android phone). We now enter the 12-digit code that will be displayed on the iPhone screen, which will help to identify the device, since from that moment the Android phone will connect with the iPhone through a direct WiFi connection, equal to same.
Now we can select what data we want to be transferred , such as Chrome bookmarks, text messages, contacts, photos and videos and even the Google account itself. We simply select what we are most interested in moving.
Once confirmed, the Android phone will begin to transfer the selected data to our iPhone , placing the most appropriate content in the corresponding applications (for example, the images and videos from the Android reel will go to the Photos app on the iPhone).
Finally, when the transfer process has been completed, we click Continue configuring iPhone on our device, and we continue the traditional configuration process using our new Apple ID, or logging into an existing one.
Of course, once the entire configuration process of our new iPhone has been completed, the system will ask us to log in to the Google accounts that we previously transferred from the old Android device. We do it and voila!
How to move our data from iPhone to Android
In case you need to do absolutely the opposite, that is, transfer the data from an iPhone to a new Android device , you should know that it is also perfectly possible to do so, although there are different options, one of which will depend on the type of device to which go to change.
For example, if you have bought a Samsung Galaxy , there is an application known by the name of Smart Switch , which tends to greatly simplify and speed up the process. To use it, it is advisable to open iCloud on the iPhone and make a backup. Then, we open Smart Switch on our new Samsung, follow the configuration process and select the Receive data option, and then choose iPhone / iPad .
Although it can be done wirelessly, we recommend doing it by cable as the transfer will be more stable. However, if this is not possible, simply click on the Get data from iCloud button , and then we will log in to our iCloud account . To finish, click on Import , and the data transfer will begin.
It is also possible to do it through a Google Drive backup , so before starting the process, it is strongly recommended to make a backup so that it is as up-to-date as possible. Therefore, we must install Google Drive on the iPhone , touch Settings and then Backup , and choose the option Start backup .
Once we’re done, we log into our Google Account , on the new device, and restore from the backup.
