How to use Apple AirPods with any Android phone

The AirPods , also known as Apple AirPods , are wireless headphones with Bluetooth connectivity , which have been specifically designed to work with our iPhone or iPad .

This may make us think, as for example with the Apple Watch, that having been designed for use on both Apple devices they could not be used with any other smart mobile phone, especially Android .

But the truth is that, being a Bluetooth audio device , the luck is that not only could they be used with any other smartphone, but we could also use them, and also easily, with any digital tablet or computer. Even with Apple TV .

While it is true that Apple includes a pair of wired headphones with every iOS device (the traditional EarPods), you may be considering the possibility of getting some AirPods, as they tend to offer a number of useful advantages that could do that we consider upgrading our audio system.

How Apple AirPods work

The operation of the Apple AirPods is not different from how the rest of wireless headphones with Bluetooth connectivity work. Of course, due to the appearance they present, they have been specifically designed for the right and left ear (we can guide ourselves with the letter “R” or “L” that we will find printed on them).

On the other hand, since they are equipped with optical sensors and accelerometer, they will be ready to work from the moment we insert them into our ear (as long as, of course, they have a battery). What’s more, the audio will pause automatically when we remove them.

Using the Apple AirPods with any smartphone

As we have mentioned, although it is true that AirPods have been designed for use with Apple products, it is also possible to pair them, via Bluetooth connection, with Android devices .

The process is quite simple, since we only have to open Settings on our device, through the drop-down menu or the icon on the home screen, click on the Bluetooth button and activate this connection if it is off.

Now we must open the AirPods charging case and hold down the Pair or Configure button for three seconds, which we will find located on the back of the case.

When the LED light on the AirPods case turns white we can pair them with any device with a Bluetooth connection that is nearby.

Now, we simply must select the AirPods from the list of Bluetooth devices available on our Android , and confirm the indications that appear. Once connected, we can use them like any other Bluetooth headset.
