Is champagne good for memory?

According to recent British research, consuming champagne several times a week improves memory and prevents brain disorders such as dementia and Alzheimer's . The effect is due to the phenolic acid present in black grapes (Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, mainly) that are used to produce this sparkling wine of French origin. Jeremy Spencer, a biochemist at Reading University (United Kingdom) and co-author of the work, says that, in view of the results, people over 40 should drink two or three glasses of champagne a week to avoid slow progress and progressive dementia, which usually begins at these ages.

To demonstrate the effects of champagne, the scientists conducted experiments with rats that consumed a small dose of the drink mixed with their food. They were then made to go through a maze to search for more food. Without champagne, the rats found food with a 50% success rate, but after receiving champagne their score shot up to 70% . I mean, the drink had improved his spatial memory . In a subsequent biopsy, the scientists found that after six weeks of regular consumption of this sparkling drink, the proteins necessary for short-term memory had doubled in concentration.
