Paris / Hanover – Suddenly a multimillionaire: In France and Germany, two lottery players were able to look forward to huge winnings at the weekend.
The euro jackpot of around 33 million euros went to Lower Saxony this time. As the regional lottery company announced on Saturday, a player who had submitted the ticket in the Hanover region won. The identity of the lucky guy is not yet known, said a spokeswoman for Toto-Lotto Lower Saxony. The ticket for the Eurojackpot was therefore given together with participation in the additional Super 6 and Spiel 77 lotteries. The stake was EUR 28.35. It was initially unknown when the ticket was submitted.
With the winning numbers 2, 6, 8, 21, 25 and the euro numbers 6 and 9, he or she achieved 33 234 495.10 euros in the drawing on Friday. Instead of the usual five numbers at the Eurojackpot, the lucky guy typed six numbers, from which all arithmetically possible five-way combinations were automatically formed, announced the lottery company. He was the only one in Europe to hit the winning numbers including the euro numbers and thus achieved the profit in prize class 1.
The chance of cracking the highest class at the Euro Jackpot is around 1 in 95 million. In the 500th lottery drawing on Friday, in addition to the millions in winnings, almost 700,000 euros each went to Berlin, Italy and Hungary.
Record jackpot at Euromillions
A French woman can only smile tiredly over 33 million – in France the record jackpot of the Euromillions lottery of 220 million euros was cracked. The lucky one now has 60 days to register for the win, said a spokesman for La Française des Jeux of the German press agency on Saturday. The winning numbers for the million jackpot were drawn on Friday evening. So far, the biggest win from the lottery in France was 200 million euros.
Euromillions has been played since 2004. Players from France, Spain, Great Britain, Luxembourg, Belgium, Switzerland, Portugal, Ireland and Austria take part in the international lottery. The previous record jackpot of 210 million euros went to Switzerland in February.
