Julaine Moore is the president of the jury at the Venice Film Festival, which opens this Wednesday. She firmly believes in the power of stories.

Venice – The actress Julianne Moore is not worried about a changing cinema market with streaming competitors.

“I have the feeling that the discussion about the future of cinema often ends up being more about the commercial side, that it’s very business-oriented,” said the 61-year-old in Venice on Wednesday. “The most important thing for me is what is created. What we continue to create.” There will always be other technical ways of transmitting art: “How we live, how the world develops, is constantly changing. But art doesn’t change. She is constant. People will always tell stories, and people will always find new ways to tell stories.” For her, that is what makes the Venice Film Festival special. Moore is this year’s president of the jury.

The 79th Venice Film Festival will be officially opened on Wednesday evening. Several major Netflix productions are represented in the competition this year. The opening film “White Noise” by Noah Baumbach is also a production of the streaming provider. dpa
