Pop star Justin Bieber is at the MTV Video Music Awards in New York this year. With seven nominations, he has a good chance of winning one of the coveted trophies.
New York / Los Angeles – Justin Bieber last appeared at the MTV Video Music Awards when he was 21. In 2015 the pop star cheered on at the gala with the song “What Do You Mean?”.
Now the Canadian will be back when the coveted prizes will be awarded in New York on September 12th, as the MTV music broadcaster announced on Wednesday.
The 27-year-old singer (“Stay”, “Peaches”) also leads the field of candidates this year with seven nominations. Singer Megan Thee Stallion follows closely behind with six chances to win. For every five there are several artists, including Billie Eilish, BTS, Doja Cat, Drake, Lil Nas X and Olivia Rodrigo.
Doja Cat (“Planet Her”) will host the MTV Video Music Awards for the first time. At the trophy gala in New York’s Barclays Center, the US singer also belongs to the prominent line-up alongside artists such as Shawn Mendes, Olivia Rodrigo, Lil Nas X, Lorde, Machine Gun Kelly and Camila Cabello.
For the VMA prizes, fans can vote online for their favorites. The trophy is a “Moonman” – a little astronaut on the moon who holds an MTV flag in his hand. dpa
