Amanda Matta successfully shares her view of the royals of this world online. When comparing Kate and Meghan, she comes to an unexpected conclusion.
LONDON – Since the Duchess of Sussex (40) married into the royal family in 2018, she has been compared to the Duchess of Cambridge (40) by the tabloids. No individual fate among royals. But Amanda Matta claims “racist language” is often responsible for a more positive view of Kate.*
Amanda Matta is known for her royals-themed clips on Twitter and TikTok. She has long inspired more than half a million followers with her work. A comment on a video that she first published on TikTok on December 7th was the reason for a new clip. Someone had written, “I just think there’s something very regal about Kate.”
It’s because of her whiteness, Matta replied in the video, which then went through the roof. “What Kate has and Meghan doesn’t have is her white skin,” Amanda continued. She didn’t owe an explanation either. Comments like “Kate has class, Meghan doesn’t” or “Kate is authentic, Meghan doesn’t” would sound like they had come to this conclusion together. “But none of us sat down to talk to either of them.”
The brothers Prince William (39) and Prince Harry (37) are also compared*. Where exactly Amanda’s nerve is hit, she continues in an interview with “Insider”. There are often “racist undertones,” she says. Duchess Kate* and Duchess Meghan* would often be played off against each other in the British press. It reads: “Kate is stylish. Kate is royal. Kate is referred to as the ‘English Rose’”. But it is only the description of a white upper-class British woman.
Conversely, Meghan would be considered “modest”. Many thought [probably without being aware of it] that she was inferior to Kate either because of the color of her skin or because of where she was born, Amanda suspects. In the reports on Kate’s 40th birthday* she noticed it again. * 24royal.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA
