Iberia and Viva Aerobus signed a codeshare agreement to provide more connection options to passengers traveling between Mexico and Spain, combining sections operated by both airlines.
Customers of the Spanish airline traveling on the Madrid-Mexico City route will be able to take advantage of the network of domestic destinations that Viva Aerobus offers from the country’s capital on connecting flights.
On the other hand, passengers in Mexico who want to travel to Madrid via Iberia will be able to connect with the Mexico City-Madrid route by making the first leg with Viva on a connecting flight from any of the destinations that the Mexican airline offers to the International Airport. Iberia operates 19 flights a week between Madrid and Mexico City , the largest number of frequencies offered by the Spanish airline to any city in the entire American continent.

Thanks to this agreement, the Spanish airline will be able to market Viva Aerobus services from Mexico City to 19 other cities in connection with these flights: Guadalajara, Cancún, Monterrey, Veracruz, Mérida, Tampico, Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos, Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Tijuana, Hermosillo, Oaxaca, Huatulco, Torreón, Puerto Escondido, Ciudad Juárez, La Paz, Chetumal and Mazatlán.
Customers will be able to pay in a single reservation, under the same baggage policy and with uniform fare conditions, for a ‘door-to-door’ itinerary for flights operated from August 30.
Iberia operates the route between Madrid and Mexico with the Airbus A-350/900 , with capacity for 348 passengers. For its part, Viva Aerobus operates a ‘young’ fleet with an average age of only five years, made up of 62 Airbus aircraft: 40 units of the A320 model and 22 of the A321. The latter has the capacity to transport 240 passengers.
Viva Aerobus said in the statement that this alliance will allow it to connect its network of domestic flights from Mexico City to the transatlantic route between Mexico and Europe.
