There has been an explosion in a small town in the US state of Indiana. Pictures show streets covered with debris. Three people died. The cause is still unclear, they say.
At least three people have been killed in a massive explosion in Evansville, Indiana. At least 39 houses were damaged, eleven of which were uninhabitable, US media reported on Wednesday (local time), citing the fire department.
There could be more victims in the rubble because some of the damaged houses could not be entered for security reasons. The cause of the explosion is being investigated.
Pictures on Thursday showed the extent of the destruction: many houses were missing walls, debris covered entire streets. The explosion had a radius of around 30 meters, as fire chief Mike Connelly reported to the local newspaper “Courier & Press”. Most roads in the area were initially closed. dpa
