The US news portal TMZ reports that Meat Loaf is said to have canceled a dinner with business partners earlier in the week because he had previously been infected. According to the report, the singer’s health is said to have deteriorated rapidly at this point.

A statement on his death was also released on the singer’s official Facebook page. His wife and daughter were with him on Friday night when he died. “It breaks our hearts to announce that the incomparable Meat Loaf passed away last night with his wife Deborah at his side,” the post reads.
