The actor Alec Baldwin cooperates with the police. He was questioned several times by the sheriff of Santa Fee. The investigation continues.
Santa Fe – After the fatal shot at a western film shoot with Alec Baldwin, the Hollywood star has already been questioned by the police several times, according to media reports.
The sheriff’s office in Santa Fe, New Mexico, had spoken to the 63-year-old several times since the death of camerawoman Halyna Hutchins (42) on October 21, CNN quoted press spokesman Juan Rios as saying.
The gun master and the assistant director to whom Baldwin had handed the gun were questioned at least once. The sheriff’s office is currently viewing the case investigation not as a murder investigation but as an investigation into a firearms incident. Rios commented, according to CNN, following a press conference at which the police and prosecutors answered questions from journalists for the first time since the incident on Wednesday (local time).
Sheriff Adan Mendoza had indicated that there was a certain carelessness in handling weapons on the set. District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies said no one is excluded from a possible trial at this point. The prosecutor told CNN that, depending on the outcome of the investigation, a charge of negligent homicide could be considered.
According to an interrogation protocol, the assistant director admitted that he had not strictly followed the safety precautions. He had only incompletely checked the weapon from which the fatal shot was fired and did not inspect all of the cartridges. Baldwin, who is the lead actor and producer on the western “Rust”, described the incident as a “tragic accident” and assured his full cooperation with the police. dpa
