The more sex we have, the lower the body's stress levels. This is clear from a recent study carried out by Benedetta Leuner and her colleagues from the Institute of Neuroscience at Princeton University (USA), which was reported in the scientific journal PLoS One .
In a series of experiments, Leuner and his team showed that although an isolated sexual experience causes a short-term increase in the level of cortisol (the stress hormone) in rodents, as occurs after physical exercise, multiple sexual experiences daily for a period of two weeks they manage to drastically reduce the release of cortisol . To this anti-stress effect is added that practicing sex regularly increases neurogenesis (formation of new neurons) and the number of connections between nerve cells, in addition to drastically reducing anxiety levels.
