More than 100 Andalusian students confined and 3 positive after a study trip to Conil (Cádiz)

A study trip after the Evaluation tests for University Access (EVAU) to Conil de la Frontera (Cádiz) , in which 105 students from the province of Granada have participated, has triggered an outbreak of coronavirus with at least three positive , as confirmed this Tuesday by the Junta de Andalucía.

The outbreak, which, as confirmed by the delegate of Health and Families of the Board in Granada, Indalecio Sánchez-Montesinos , also affects five students from Cuenca, is “controlled” and the work of the trackers and the health system itself to control that the confinements are respected it is developing “very well”.

The hundred of adolescents remain isolated in their houses after activating the stipulated traces for these cases. “It is foreseeable”, according to the Andalusian Government, that the number of infected is increasing. The quarantine lasts ten days , always depending on the result of the corresponding PCR, which is also subjected to the “close contacts” of adolescents these days.

Board sources consulted by Europa Press have detailed that it was some of these students who, upon returning from the trip, and already with symptoms compatible with Covid-19, came to take the mandatory tests and tested positive.

From there, Salud y Familias activated the protocol, with the pertinent tracing and isolation in their homes of those affected, without any serious or hospitalized , and with the performance of PCR on the students and the people around them, according to traceability analysis.

The bud, “fenced off”

Sánchez-Montesinos pointed out that the trip took place last week, and that the hundred Granada teenagers belonged to five educational centers , which are not, in any case, those that organized the activity, after the EVAU tests.

Following epidemiological criteria, in principle the outbreak is “surrounded,” explained the delegate, who added that, by serology, it is studying whether the infections could have been caused by the delta variant of the coronavirus. Be that as it may, the symptoms of those infected, who are not hospitalized, are “very limited.”

The Andalusian Health delegate has specified that in the province of Granada there are also students affected by the macro-outbreak in Palma de Mallorca , and added that the Balearic Government “is following the epidemiological criteria” and that, “if one does not follow the protocols, it is very difficult to maintain the criteria of rigor »that prevent the expansion of the Covid-19 pandemic, at a time when the incidence in the population of the age group between 20 and 30 years is increasing.
