The New England Patriots have significantly strengthened their defense. They agreed on four-year contracts with Edge Rusher Matt Judon of the Baltimore Ravens and Defensive Back Jalen Mills of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Judon’s contract brings him $ 56 million, of which $ 32 million is guaranteed. Mills, in turn, will receive $ 24 million, of which $ 9 million is guaranteed.
Judon is a two-time pro bowler and has been the Ravens’ top pass rusher for the past two seasons. He had a total of 30.5 sacks since 2017, 12.5 more than any other Ravens player in the period.
Last year, Judon played under the franchise day for the Ravens. They had drawn him in the fifth round in the 2016 draft.
Mills, on the other hand, is a variable defensive back that can be used both as a cornerback and as a safety. He was a seventh round pick of the 2016 Eagles.
Mills returned to good health in 2020 after playing eight and nine games respectively in 2018 and 2019 due to injuries. In 2020 he came to 1.5 sacks and one interception. In addition, his 74 tackles were the majority of his career.
The Patriots had previously agreed on a contract with tight end Jonnu Smith of the Tennessee Titans.
