Russell Wilson is frustrated and is now making this clear in public for the first time. Above all, the Seattle Seahawks quarterback wants better protection on the pitch.
“Like any other player, I don’t want to get hits,” Wilson told reporters at a Zoom press conference. “But that’s the reality of this position, you can ask any quarterback who wants to play this game. But it’s also part of this job. I think I had to take hard hits a lot. I took almost 400 sacks “So we have to get better. And I also have to find a way to get better.”
When asked if he was frustrated with the Seahawks, Wilson said, “I’m frustrated that I have to take hits too often. I’m frustrated with that. But the bottom line is that I mainly want to win.”
Wilson has had 394 sacks in 144 regular season games since his 2012 rookie season. According to ESPN Stats & Information , that’s the most a quarterback has ever cashed in their first nine seasons in the NFL (since the 1970 merger).
Wilson had never been so clear, although he often spoke of difficulties with Pass Protection. The statements came after the NFL Network reported that several teams had inquired about a trade for the eight-time quarterback with the Seahawks.
Seattle Seahawks: Wilson trade very unlikely
According to ESPN , however, the Seahawks promptly put a stop to it. A trade would be difficult to do anyway, as Seattle would have to compensate $ 39 million in dead money for the coming season for a trade before June 1st.
Wilson had just extended his contract for four years and $ 140 million in April 2019. This contract runs for another three years and contains a no-trade clause, so Wilson would have to agree to any trades.
