A trading card from football superstar Tom Brady fetched a record amount at auction. A well-known collector and fan of the most successful quarterback in NFL history, paid $ 1.32 million in an online auction for a signed copy from 2000 when Brady was a New England Patriots rookie.
Brady won the Superbowl for the sixth time in February with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers against defending champions Kansas City Chiefs. The previous football record for the player cards popular in North America was held by a newer edition by Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes for $ 861,000.
The record price is held by a card from 1952 by baseball player Mickey Mantle of the New York Yankees: A businessman bought it in January for 5.2 million dollars (4.36 million euros).
A rare first edition card by Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks of the National Basketball Association (NBA) recently changed hands for $ 4.6 million (3.86).
