Nikolauspostamt: Even "big children" get an answer

St. Nicholas is there for everyone: This is emphasized by the St. Nikolaus Festival Committee in Saarland, especially against the background of the pandemic. Adults would also get an answer from the St. Nicholas post office.

St. Nikolaus – Not only children, but also adults of all ages can write to St. Nicholas: “Even” older children “get an answer from the St. Nicholas post office,” said the St. Nikolaus Festival Committee in Saarland.

In the corona pandemic, they also want to consciously address older people – also in retirement homes – who would like to receive mail from Santa Claus. The replies will be sent from the end of next week and the post office will be open from December 5th.

So far 7000 letters

So far, around 7,000 letters from children from all over the world have already been received by the Nikolaus post office, said Sabine Gerecke, head of the children’s letter campaign in the St. Nikolaus Festival Committee of the German Press Agency. “A large part has already been answered and is already waiting to finally go on a trip.” Many children wish on their wish lists “that Corona goes away”.

At Christmas 2020, the volunteers had replied to 29,845 letters from children from a total of 45 countries – more than ever before. For more than 50 years, children have been writing “An den Nikolaus” in the small town in the municipality of Großrosseln near the French border. According to Deutsche Post, it is the oldest Nikolaus post office in Germany. The partnership between the festival committee and the post office has existed since 1967. dpa
