Kassel – On the way home from night duty, a police officer in Kassel recognized a wanted suspect and made his arrest possible.
As the police announced on Monday, the officer alerted his colleagues early on Sunday morning, who caught the 21-year-old a short time later. The young man and an accomplice are said to have sexually molested and then robbed a 40-year-old woman in Kassel two weeks earlier. Internally, the police were looking for the perpetrator with photos from a surveillance camera.
At the station, the 21-year-old was undoubtedly identified as one of the perpetrators, the police said. But he denied the crime. Since there were no grounds for detention, he was later released. The search for his accomplice continues. dpa
