Suddenly, the man is said to have attacked the officers with a knife. A police officer fires a shot from his service pistol.

Zülpich – A police officer shot a suspected rioter in Zülpich (North Rhine-Westphalia) who is said to have attacked officials with a knife. The 31-year-old was so badly injured by the shot that an alarmed emergency doctor only found the man dead, the police and public prosecutor in Bonn said.

According to this, the police officers in Euskirchen were notified on Monday afternoon. A caller said a man was trying to force his way into his parents’ home. The police found the suspect at the scene.

“After the first investigation, the man is said to have suddenly attacked the officers with a drawn knife,” it said. An officer then fired a shot from his service weapon at the 31-year-old, who died a little later.

The relatives of the dead and the police officers deployed would be psychologically cared for. The Bonn police and the public prosecutor’s office took over the investigation. dpa
