Basically, prepositions are nothing more than words that serve as a link or union when forming sentences . They do not have gender or number so they do not change and we should not be thinking in masculine or feminine or if they are in the singular or in the plural.

As for the types of prepositions, we can say that there are the prepositions of time , which are used in temporary phrases , those of place, for locative phrases , but we also have the prepositional phrases that occur when more than one word forms the preposition.

  • next to : A prepositional phrase «We will travel to the side of your people».
  • around : A prepositional phrase “We walked around that house.”
  • via : A prepositional phrase “We have gone through rocky areas.”
  • near : “It is near your house.”
  • Against : “Don’t lean against the wall.”
  • from : «I come from Madrid».
  • under : A prepositional phrase “There is something under the bed.”
  • in front of : A prepositional phrase “I did not see it and had it in front of the chair.
  • behind: A prepositional phrase “It’s behind that building.”
  • in: «We live in the city».
  • above : A prepositional phrase “It is on the table.”
  • in front of : A prepositional phrase «Live in front of my house»,
  • between : «Live between Madrid and Barcelona».
  • outside : “You are away from home.”
  • towards : “We travel south.”
  • next : “It is next to the entrance of the store.”
  • far from : A prepositional phrase “He’s far from home.”
  • by : “You have to go this way.”
  • about : “We are standing at a considerable height.”
  • after : “He hides behind the door.”
