Queen Elizabeth II: She leaves nothing to chance

Queen Elizabeth has always preferred to do her own make-up whenever possible. When it comes to makeup, the monarch trusts only one person 100% – herself. According to Angela Kelly, there is only one occasion a year when the Queen always hires a professional make-up artist – namely when it comes to her look for the traditional Christmas speech* goes. “You may be surprised to learn that this is the only occasion during the year when Her Majesty does not do her own makeup,” says Kelly’s book. For the annual speech, the 95-year-old regularly relies on the skills of make-up artist Marilyn Widdess.
