It is not the first time that a novel by the best-selling author has been made into a film. However, King’s new novel has just been published.

Los Angeles – The new novel about the “King of Horrors” has only just been published when the American bestselling author Stephen King (74) has already confirmed plans for a film, according to US media reports.

British director Paul Greengrass (67, “News from the World”) is to bring the horror fairy tale “Fairy Tale” to the screen, as “Deadline.com” reported on Thursday. He is a fan of the filmmaker, King told the industry publication. Greengrass is a “wonderful choice” for the film adaptation.

The Briton, in turn, described “Fairy Tale” as a “brilliant work” and a mixture of classic adventure story and disturbing, contemporary allegory. The fantasy book, released this month, follows a 17-year-old boy into a cruel fantasy world filled with nasty creatures. In this kingdom of sick, downtrodden people, the ultimate battle between good and evil is taking place.

Many of King’s best-selling books have become big screen hits, including Carrie, The Shining, It, Misery and Pet Graveyard. Greengrass recently brought the award-winning western “News from the World” (2020) with Hollywood star Tom Hanks and Berlin student Helena Zengel to the screen. The director is also known for thrillers and dramas such as The Bourne Ultimatum, Flight 93 and Captain Phillips. dpa
