Berlin (dpa) – After a man attacked police officers in the courtyard of a Berlin hospital, the officers shot him and seriously injured him. A police spokeswoman said that night.

The 31-year-old initially rioted in the St. Hedwig hospital in the Mitte district on Tuesday evening and attacked emergency services with a broken glass bottle. There is no danger to life, said the spokeswoman.

The reasons for the man’s behavior were unclear. It was also initially unclear whether he was a patient in the clinic. A homicide commission has started the investigation. dpa
